Our guiding principles include respecting the concerns and rights of non-smokers and seeking the same in return.
Our goal is to work together with non-smokers in an environment of mutual respect, civility and accommodation to create fair and balanced taxes, laws and policies. In fact, about 10% of people who originally expressed interest in our guiding principles are either former smokers or have never smoked.
We
believe that government actions, driven by the anti-smoking lobby, are designed to prevent mutual respect and civility by stigmatizing and humiliating smokers.
This is evident from the decision some years ago to adopt “denormalization” as a cornerstone of tobacco policy.
This approach, nurtured by a decision to limit tobacco control advisory groups and conferences to anti-smoking advocates only, has led to increasingly offensive actions against Canada’s 5 million adult smokers in a bid to portray them as social outcasts and burdens. This is only possible because respect and civility have been removed from the way governments and anti-smoking groups view smokers.
• Promoting mutual respect, civility and accommodation
• Pursuing fair and equal treatment for smokers from their governments
• Exposing discriminatory and offensive actions and seeking their elimination
